No Place to Hide by Jeffrey Friedman (with Wendy and Jonathan Friedman) It was just about one year ago that Wendy Friedman called Temple Sinai inquiring about partnership. She spoke of leaving Philadelphia, moving to Florida, and starting anew. It was during that conversation, after she enthusiastically raved about Rabbi Litwak's website article explaining why we use the word "partnership," that Wendy promised to come for S'lichot dinner. Just a few days later, Wendy came to our S'lichot dinner and service with both of her sons, Jeffrey and Jonathan. Jonathan was getting ready to leave for study abroad in London and Jeffrey would be staying in town. The following week, Jonathan did leave, and Wendy and Jeff joined Temple Sinai. A full year has passed and anyone and everyone who has gotten to know Wendy and Jeff will agree, Temple Sinai is lucky to have them both.
All of us at Temple Sinai look at Jeffrey and see a self-assured young man. Was it always so? Read Jeff Friedman's story, No Place to Hide; you'll find out the answer!

KEMELHOR CHAPEL - 6:00 PMWhile our regular Family Erev Shabbat service usually takes place outside, July is a bit hot for that. This Family Shabbat service will take place in the Kemelhor Chapel with a pot-luck dinner to follow. This is a come-as-you-are Shabbat Service led by Cantor Michael Kruk, Rabbi David N. Young, and David Prashker. Acoustic guitar and hand drums accentuate the service with enough energy to entertain the young, and enough substance to worship with the young-at-heart. This is the only Shabbat service of the evening. Please bring a food item according to the first letter of your last name (prepare food for 8-10 people): A-F: Side or Salad; G-L: Drinks; M-S: Dessert (no nuts, please!); T-Z: Main Course. This is a participatory service; we have lots of instruments to share. If you or your child/ren have your own instruments(tambourine, drum, maracas, etc), please bring them with you and feel free to join in. If you would like to take part in the service, contact Rabbi Young (rabbi.young@tsnd.org) for a speaking part. Hope to see everyone there. |
