The Jewish people are a people of stories.  Throughout our history, telling stories has been a crucial way of imparting wisdom, conveying behavioral norms, inspiring action, connecting with God and the community, and deepening our own spiritual life.  Regardless of their content, the stories we tell are sacred.  When we share our stories with others, we open ourselves up to finding new meaning in them ourselves, and impart meaning on the reader/listener.

The Jewish Living Committee is spearheading an effort for congregants to share their stories.  The Chicken Soup for the Sinai Soul project highlights thoughts, writings, and expressions of congregant partners on themes of Jewish content.  They are then folded into the Mosaic, Sinai Scene, and other synagogue communications.  We invite you to submit thoughts, experiences, and stories by sending them to Rabbi Litwak.  Please understand that we will not be able to use all submissions and we will edit them to fit our space constraints. We hope that you will nurture your own soul and those of your fellow congregant partners by sharing your stories.

In this short note, Temple Sinai partner, Samantha Suaya, says thank you to the temple.  Really, it is Temple Sinai who would like to thank her.  Samantha and her Purim Committee have worked countless hours to make this year's Purim celebration the best ever!  Thank you, for everything you do...each and every day.

Over the weekend, my husband David, my daughter Sunny, and I had a family wedding to attend.  My daughter Sunny is normally very quiet and on the shy side.  She sat at the table with us at the wedding UNTIL the time for the prayer over the challah. My uncle was called upon to do the prayer and walked by our table. To my surprise, Sunny followed him!

My uncle looked down at her. He asked if she knew any of the prayer.  Well, the next thing I heard was Sunny's voice over the microphone singing. She was singing with true confidence.

I could not believe it.  Nobody could believe it. When it came to the Hebrew part, I thought, oh my!  But, she said it and it was perfect! (She was better than most adults.) Everyone at the wedding clapped and praised her.

I was so touched I had tears. My husband, my mom and all of the friends, family and people attending were amazed. Many asked how she knew so much. I simply replied - she attends Temple Sinai!

The next morning, when Sunny woke up, I told her how proud I was and asked her how many times she practiced this prayer. She reminded me - everyday before lunch the classes recite it.

I've never felt so proud.  Thank you, Temple Sinai!
