The Bergmann Upper School curriculum is specifically designed to meet the intellectual, social and emotional needs of the early adolescent. Our academically rigorous program includes the core subjects: English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Hebrew/Judaica. Study skills are emphasized, giving students the tools they will need for a lifetime of success. Our graduates' record of success in both public and private high schools is second to none in South Florida.

Jacobson Sinai Academy strives to instill a love of Judaism based on an understanding of its history and customs, its values and ideas and the Hebrew language. Upper School students study Torah, prayer, literature and elements of conversation to gain insight into our Jewish heritage. Students draw from the lessons of the Torah to promote good relationships among people. Morals, ethics and respect for all cultures are infused throughout the curriculum, prompting students to make intelligent decisions and maintain the highest standards of personal behavior.

 Garfinkle Center for Jewish Values - The Jacobson Sinai Academy third grade team value is Guarding the Earth (Shomrei Adamah). In an effort to inspire our team, the curriculum is designed to include many “EARTH shattering” experiences. Their newest project is collecting batteries for recycling. Our third graders are promoting awareness to the students and Temple Sinai partners. So, make like the energizer bunny and get your old, dead batteries into any of the battery recycling boxes on campus!

 EARN $ FOR OUR SCHOOLS! We all shop for groceries, sometimes two or three times a week –- or more. Now turn those shopping trips into easy cash for our schools, and encourage friends to do the same! UPDATES FROM THE PRINCIPAL
February 2010 - We are truly building bridges to the future! Construction of the JCC/Sinai bridge opens up a world of possibilities to us and we plan to take full advantage. I can’t wait for the ribbon-cutting ceremony!
Plans are taking shape for two wonderful trips – our 6th & 7th graders will tour the Big Apple this spring, and many 8th graders will visit Eretz Yisrael, creating new friendships with other Jewish day school students from our community at the same time. We have so much to look forward to. Meanwhile, our academic, Judaic, and fine arts programs are all going strong.
I am always available to speak with anyone searching for a strong educational and Jewish foundation for his/her child.

BERGMANN UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS:
o JSA is accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools;
o Our 8th graders are accepted into elite private high schools throughout Dade and Broward counties;
o 50% of the Upper School faculty have Masters Degrees or higher;
o Twenty-two of our students received Academic Honor Roll awards in just the first grading period;
o Our Student Drama Group performed the musical, Disney’s “Aladdin, Jr.” this year;
o Our Varsity Sports Team is part of the Jewish Athletic League;
o All students in grades 6-8 complete 60 hours of community service before graduation;
o Our Student Council works tirelessly on many tzedakah projects;
o 8th grade students can earn high school credit upon successful completion of certain honors classes;
o Many JSA graduates place in Honors High School classes;
o Our Bergmann Upper School has its own chapter of National Junior Honor Society, the Kavod Chapter;
o Spanish for Spanish and non-Spanish speakers is now part of the curriculum.
